I love this set of metal chairs. Kind of a cross between an old ice cream parlor style chair, and an elegant ballroom chair. They would be great dining room chairs, or great in the garden. You could have them sand blasted, and made to look sleek. You could just sand off any crusty bits that are ready to fall off, and put a low sheen sealer on, leaving the beautiful rusty patina revealed in all its glory.

In an age of slick design, Mid 20th Century, Hollywood Regency, Domino Girl Chic, it is good to go into a place like Antiques On Jackson and be reminded of the beauty of decadence and decay. If you've ever visited Havana or Venice or New Orleans, you know that the faded, crumbling, forgotten, tattered and tarnished, can hold a particular kind of beauty.
Maria and Simon (pronounced see-moan, in the French way) Hardevled have such a place on a huge corner lot. There is a main store that houses the fabulous antiques and primitive pieces, and there is an outdoor love shack that houses a studio were folk art is made on a daily basis. There is also a huge outdoor lot with large architectural pieces.

While I was in the store, a gentleman purchased a chandelier with aqua Venetian glass drops, a Mary and Joseph statue, and some turtles (which I didn't see, and have no idea what they might be).
Simon's folk art signs are very famous. I love the one in the deli across the street that says "Shalom Y'All." We have one that says "Tango Tonight." They are very reasonably priced starting at around $40. for a custom made piece. He will ship, but you have to call to order, since they do not have any inter net access.
