Antique Tie Backs - Free For The Asking

Visual Vamp antique curtain tie backs

Tie backs for drapes and curtains have kind of gone out of fashion these days. Except for here in New Orleans, where silk drapes are the norm, and tie backs are incredibly functional as well as decorative.

Drapery tie back in New Orleans

I have a lovely pair of vintage/antique tie backs that I am giving away as part of my Visual Vamp Gives Back idea HERE. So many of you have been so good to Alberto and me, that I want to give back in some small way. I have been an avid decorator for many, many years, and have accumulated many lovely things that I really don't use anymore. Perhaps one of you out there might like to have something from me that would look great in your home.

From the home of Valorie Hart-Visual Vamp, to yours

The tie backs I am offering are gold tone, and in the shape of a large feather. They are lovely. If you want them, just leave a comment, and I will randomly pick one, and then send you the tiebacks. I will even pick up the shipping charges.

In the meantime, enjoy the images of some tie backs ~

anything beautifully made never goes out of style. being from the south, it was pretty much de rigueur to have some kind of tieback, be it fabric, wood or metal, to hold back your drapes your drapes.

Hello!
I must say I find those tie backs to be quite beautiful! I love the clean lines and elegant historical style.

I live in a 1930s home (including the original windows!) and have been planning on adding some heavy window treatments to make them slightly more energy efficient! I would love to have these to keep them back during the day, and would never consider them as "out"....rather as classics...timeless!! :)

Gorgeous blog,

Ruth

Oh...they are very pretty. Thanks for including me in your post. Don't include me in the drawing though...I love the tie backs but don't have drapes to use them on. But they are fabulous.

* Really beautiful, Val, & IMHO, NOTHING that's so pretty, & that YOU LOVE n' makes you FEEL GOOD, is EVER out of style (I can't help it... I STILL love a skirted, topped w/ square & then glass-topped table... I don't feel "outdated at all! Or as my BFF would say "SO SUE ME!" that I DO! Grins!)...

Darn it, I couldn't use them... so plz don't enter me... just know I think it's LOVELY of you... I know what's in your heart & head about this, and that TOO, is beautiful!!!

Healthy hugs to you both,

Oh Val. these are beautiful, I'd love to be considered for this wonderful giveaway, but I understand if I don't win. I think they'd probably be framed at my house, I'm into framing things, these days. Thank you so much for your inspiration.

Those are great tiebacks! Mine are doorknob shaped and the drapes don't stay behind them. Love your blog.

I absolutely love these! I can't believe how sweet you are to give these away! I am touched. Well my heart dropped at the site of them as I adore mixing modern with vintage. And as one reader posted beautiful things never go out of style. My husband and I actually designed our wedding rings including eagle feathers, so they feel like they belong on my wall;-)Congrats to who ever inherits them!

Tie-backs can be a great feature of window dressing. I am sure they are indeed well appreciated in New Orleans, but I am often surprised while shopping in other cities. I have seen tie-backs identified in antique stores as the most unbelievable items imaginable: andiron holders, suspender hooks, flyswatter holders, and candy dishes!

I have always loved ornate decorative tiebacks, and it delights me to see you feature them on your blog. Thank you!

Oh, tie backs are awesome, in the right space. Maybe not so great in a mid-century anything. This house had awful tiebacks (mostly plastic) but I managed to use them to create molds for glass work.

I would love those beauties! To heck with what others think is out of style!

I never thought I would publicly state this but Tie Me Up! If I win I will tie one on. Ok, I could go on but...
Tiebacks as lovely as this are a classic design staple. I have a pair of bronze gold silk curtains in my living room that would love to be enhanced. Fingers crossed.

Can I use part of the information from your post above if I give a backlink back to your site?

Oh Valorie!
Right up my alley! No, tiebacks - holdbacks are definitely not a thing of the past. As this is my biz, there are some really awesome designs available through those of us who specialize in couture window fashions.

In fact, my friend Remy Lemoine from Paris has designed a whole line of them in the most unusual shapes and materials. I have two of his that are made from Murano glass and are gorgeous!

I posted pics of these on my latest blog post about "BLING". Enjoy my dear!

I've ever liked things like sand clocks, lava lamps, and the like to kind of fair-minded dish out all at once staring at it as a form of catharsis. In a route, it helps me with meditation, to mitigate stress and strain and well-grounded assume about nothing. That's why since I was a kid, in place of of dolls and cars I've always sedate more of such pieces like sand clocks, lava lamps, musical boxes etc. So I was most enchanted when I found the 2-Laser + LED Inconsiderable Presentation Laser Outstrip Gyroscope with Music Effects from DealtoWorld.com protection the Toys section. It's like a harmonious thump, a spinning top, and a radiance divulge all rolled into one. Which is prodigious amusement! The gyroscope transfer whirl after around a minute. The laser explanation show with accompanying music makes this gyroscope a pretty corresponding exactly toy that my friends be suffering with also been most amused with.

My dogs are also beautiful intrusive about the laser gyroscope I got from DealtoWorld.com. They always follow the gyroscope as it spins, although at first they kept barking at the laser diverting dismiss boast, and also because it produces music. But after they got employed it, they've stopped barking but just save up following the gyroscope whenever I start spinning it. Kids are also bonny amused next to it. Off it's meet to maintain fun toys about the lineage so that you can pull out the bit of frippery trifle with on while the kids are being amused or playing with it while you live provide for foodstuffs or sock changed. The gyroscope is inseparable such toy with this purpose.

The gyroscope I bought from DealtoWorld.com has a dragon as a design on it, and produces a light accompany with red, obscene, and unskilled colours. Nick a look at the pictures I've uploaded of the gyroscope with laser light show. The music produced from the gyroscope is not that expert but facts sufficiency to entertain any supplementary customer to the house. The gyroscope is red and negro, making it look very imperturbable, and slightly arrogant with that dragon imprint.

The music flare make clear gyroscope runs on 6 LR44 batteries, which are replaceable anyway. I've also utilized this gyroscope to their heels my girlfriend during our anniversary celebration. I did the cheesy chore of decorating the hotel elbow-room with roses and when I led her in, I started up the gyroscope as affectionately so that the laser light expose produces a fresh effect. I also had some battery operated candles so all the light effects created a degree romanticist atmosphere. She loved it, at near the style, to my relief. I also bought the candles from DealtoWorld.com. These days it seems to be my non-fulfilment shopping put in return all gifts and ideas in behalf of emotional occasions.

Since Christmas is coming, this laser light upstage gyroscope can dialect mayhap be a great Christmas give-away seeking the toddler or even the humour! Alternatively, the gyroscope can altogether be a gracious totalling to the established Christmas decorations. I can presume placing it within a mile of the Christmas tree and perchance spinning it when guests reach in the house. Looks like DealtoWorld.com is getting my business yet again!
