Sign The President's Birthday Card

He will be 49 on Wednesday August 4.

What were you doing at age 49? Or what do you hope to be doing by the time you are 49?

I had radically changed my life by age 49, gave up my design business, ended a marriage, overcame an illness, moved from New York to California, learned to dance tango, and found the love of my life, Alberto. It started a few years earlier than my 49th birthday, but I was well on my way to reinventing myself for the next 49 years!

Go HERE to sign birthday card for President Obama, and leave him message.

I must admit....my 40s have involved more evolution and growth than I could have ever dreamed. Things just keep getting better! You are an amazing role model for embracing life and getting the very most out of it!

Happy Birthday Mr.President.
I worked with a holistic counselor and all that I set out to do has been done, well, that is only 1/2 of the list, so I keep looking ahead to a full life and to meeting others like you who never look back.
We must always look ahead, full of hope. My Father is one that always lives life full of gratitude and I have learned to always give thanks for everything.
I give thanks for meeting you and Alberto~

Wow, you are amazing. I know when we look back we think "did I do that". I haven't done anything quite so life changing. I think for most of my adult life I've looked after someone, if it was not my kids, it was my mother. So things from49 to now at 56 have not been anything out of the ordinary. It's only been since I turned 50 that I decided, when is it going to be "me" time. I remember my sisters wanting to go on a trip to celebrate my 50th,
and I'm thinking I want a romantic trip not a sisterhood thing. I didn't go. They did. Still haven't gotten my romantic thing. but I'm working on it. I'm so pleased to be reading your blog you are a constant inspiration.

Hi Irene,
Hang onto your dreams. You will act on them sooner than later.
It's tough when you are a care giver for aging parents.
Both Alberto and I lost our parents some years ago, so now we only have each other to care for as we grow older.
It is very hard being a care giver, so please take time for yourself, even if it is just a few moments a day to do something for yourself, like reading the blogs :-)

Wow! This is a opportune time for this post for me. I just turned 49 and am trying to figure out what is next. I got laid off from my job over a month ago and really don't want to get back in the media business. I am a graphic designer and I love designing but I don't want to do it any more for those who don't appreciate all the work that goes into it. So at 49, I'm trying to figure out what is going to be next...it will involve design and art ...but not sure in what form. I'm single, having gone through a split several years ago...so the world is my oyster...no kids...I can do whatever I like...I just have to figure out what that is. I always thought, by age 50 I'd be well established in my career and all settled in my life...wow was I wrong. Although until recently...I was settled in a career although not that happy in it. Sometimes things happen in life that you don't want to happen that save you from wasting more time. I'm being forced to change.

Reading that your made major changes...inspires me.

I love, love, love subway signs, but they are all over the place now I wonder if I will get tired of them. Or if I dont care and will love it even when everybody else tells me they are over and out.

Let me know how you are feeling!

xoxo
