I'm sure Jason Wu, the designer, never realized one of his dresses will end up in the Smithsonian! She looks lovely.

I loved the day look..very jackie o in the 21st century. the night look, not so much. to me it seems a little young and frilly, a little too prom 1983 to suit her. i think she looks better in sleeker, more structured looks. fwi, jason wu started as a fashion doll designer, designing the integrity toys fashion royalty series as well as the last few years of the mel odom gene marshall doll. in 10 years, his work has gone from fao schwartz to the smithsonian. not too shabby.

I read that he was only 26. Not a bad gig for a 26 year old!!

They look so gorgeous togethr...whatever the clothing!

I was in a trance of awe all day yesterday in front of my tv. But, for me, the verdict is out still out on Michele's choice of outfits, but, she wore them will grace and elegance.........and what a refreshing couple they are for America.

Any hints on who designed the little girls coats?

Who designed AFranklin's hat? I thought it was fitting for her......she loved it and she carried it off with grace too.

Hi Denise,
Thanks for your thought provoking and thoughtful comment.
The girls' ccoats are off-the-rack from J. Crew.
Don't know about Aretha's fab church lady hat. Anyone out there know?
Ellen wore a copy of it on her show this morning!

I read today on a friends facebook, a comment that a young woman made how she felt sad for the Obama girls having to be "dressed up" the entire day, yesterday. I hope my family is not the only people out there that when we get dressed up, we feel good about yourselves. The whole day was stupendous, in every aspect.
It made my heart warm again!
Let us hope that Americans give our new President undying support and prayers of hope & courage.

I just can't believe they had 9 Balls to attend?!! That is a LoT of balls in one night. I love that the dress is asymmetrical. Michele has got this really wonderful modern sensibility to the pieces she picks. I Really liked this dress!
