When things are cheap in Buenos Aires, they are really cheap. Ceramic plates get scratched easily. Paint comes off the bottom of pots and pans. Flatware is paper thin. Shower curtains are flimsy. We get inexpensive things in big box stores in the USA, but believe it or not they are a better quality of cheap.
