Little Yellow Gem Of A Kitchen
My friend Michael Pelkey lives in a tiny 600 square foot house. Every inch of space is masterly designed with great built-ins that look like furniture.
Here is his kitchen, done in French mustard yellow.
Behind the doors is enough dinnerware and cooking equipment to to do a sit down dinner for 24, a cocktail party for 50, or just take-out for one or two.
Michael was my design assistant years ago, and we have remained fast friends. He went onto being a personal chef and caterer and visual major domo to the wealthy. He is a visual vamp of the highest order. He started collecting antiques at age 16, filling warehouses long before he had anyplace to put them.
His house is so well designed, natural, and charming that it led to book and magazine editors literally knocking on his door. From that exposure, he has started an interior design business at the tender age of 50+ called Michael Pelkey Design.

Oh yes. I like French Mustard Yellow too. That's a nice worldly, timeless yellow. I so appreciate the idea of small spaces being so impeccably designed. Would love to see inside those wonderful built-ins.
