A Green Kitchen
I'm a use-what-you-have, make-do kind of gal. Not because I always want to do this, but usually because my choices are limited due to the hideous B word BUDGET. But as "green" is getting to be more and more a necessity, as well as PC and decor fashionable (every magazine has a green story), making-do and using what one has (brains and junk), seems to be coming into its own.
Janet Grey did this kitchen over. I love that she kept the stove, the floor, the cart, the windows...
Here's what she says about this very cute kitchen:
We replaced the basic cabinet doors, which were warped (not shown in “before” photo), with a Shaker style. We continued with the floor, bringing in the green and balancing it with black for a striking alternative-checkerboard effect. The tiled back splash was designed to build upon these colors – a contemporary Deco look incorporating green glass mosaics to further tie in the gorgeous green knobs.
